For at least the 10th time in 6 months, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SINGLE BEST AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY, ESPECIALLY IF RATES ARE THE PRIMARY CRITERIA FOR EVERYBODY! First of all, no one company will ever be THE CHEAPEST for everybody. You see, a lot of things go into the rate-making process. LOCATION will change the competitiveness of each and every company. Then within that location, Age, Sex, Marital Status, Driving Record, and year, make & model of car(s) being insured. Different companies like different mixes of clients in each Zip Code. Where they want more business of a specific mix, they are more competitive (cheaper) and where they don’t want more business of a specific mix, they are less competitive (more expensive). AND THEN to make things even more complicated, at least once a year, they change their rates, and the competitiveness changes in each and every Zip Code. Sometimes that happens TWICE in the same year.
So even if Company A has THE CHEAPEST rates today, when your policy renews, that may not be so. And I NEVER recommend changing companies on each renewal. In fact, I recommend not changing companies more than once every 3 years. And some of the more competitive companies won’t even consider you unless you can PROVE that you were insured with your prior insurance company for at least 3 years, and some even require 5 years.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the timing of rate changes, Each company changes their rates on different days, so the company with their OLD rates, will probably be cheaper than the company whose NEW rates just went into effect.
there is no such thing as best and cheap in the same sentence. Cheap car insurance means very limited coverage and if anything does happen you will be out of pocket. Lastly, it depends on which state you are in, your age, driving record, type of coverage you are looking to get on what type of vehicle. Random question, if you have everything horrible and just need insurance would like general but do not expect much out of it on the claim payout.
As others have alluded to, the whole insurance cabal and racket is on par with a level or two less integrity than the drug cartels run in Mexico and South America.
Still, some insurance companies make an effort to comply with law and regulation, while others just have a standard operating procedure to act like bad-faith criminals.
One company stands out as the worst of the worst:
- Bristol West
If you bought insurance from these scoundrels, do yourself a favor, and immediately change. But don’t change early, or you’ll pay outrageous cancellation fees.
If you get hit by someone with this insurance, put in your claim with your own insurance, or you’ll just be wasting your own time.
They will use one of the national price guides, such as the NADA or Kelley Blue Book, and look at comparable recent sales in your area. They can add any recent upgrades (but not routine repairs or maintenance).
Which is the most reliable low premium car insurance company in the United States?
I cannot speak for the carriers that only work with captive agents, such as Farmers, State Farm, Allstate, etc., but within the carriers that work with independent agencies, Mercury is usually the lowest cost carrier.
I say usually because they are not in every state, they do not usually sell mono-line auto coverage, which means they also want your home or renter’s policy and a lot of factors go into quoting auto insurance so there are always exceptions.
The best thing to do is to find yourself a reputable independent agency that has access to multiple carriers and can offer you a competitive quote.

It's true, but your auto insurance premium can really depend on a lot of factors including your driving history such as traffic violations or lack thereof. Obviously, if you have a long history of violations and have been involved in a lot of road accidents, especially if you were the at-party, then your car insurance premium can go up.
I think the question should be how can you find ways to lower or reduce your auto insurance premium. Seek the help of trusted and professional insurance agents in your local neighborhood and ask for a personal analysis of your own personal circumstances. Find out if you can be eligible for car insurance discounts, etc. Best of luck to you.
What company offers the best car insurance rates for new drivers?
There is NO SUCH THING as a single “BEST” auto insurance company for any single criteria. Insurance is based on so many things, that being a new driver is only 1 of them, making you an inexperienced driver, thus getting an inexperienced driver surcharge for your first 3 years, regardless of your age.
Auto insurance rates are based on (USA) zip code, age, marital status, driving record (you’re getting that surcharge here for inexperience), a car that you drive, if a young driver, are you on your parent's policy, if so, age, sex, marital status, driving record of others in your household, if more than one car, you get a multi-car discount, and if you don’t drive a car regularly, but are just licensed, you will be rated as an occasional driver with most companies (cheaper than if you are the primary driver of one of the cars in the household)
The ONLY WAY that you are going to find the best fit for you, is by SHOPPING YOUR INSURANCE NEEDS AROUND. I recommend calling 3 or 4 independent agents who represent multiple companies each. If you need Collision (accidents) and Comprehensive (pretty much everything other than accidents and mechanical breakdown), make sure that you get higher & lower deductible options, so that you can get the best deal for your money, which sometimes means that the lower deductible, even though it's more expensive, is the best bang for the buck, while at other times, the higher deductible is so much lower, that it pays the difference between the 2 deductibles in less than 2.5 years, making it the better deal. Obviously, over 3 years is NOT a good deal.
